This test can also diagnose and make a distinction between the 3 stages of hyperparathyroidism and can diagnose hypoparathyroidism.</p> <p>Hyperparathyroidism is when there is an abnormally high level of parathyroid hormone in the blood, which causes bone weakness through loss of calcium.
