<p><strong>Use:</strong><br>
This test is used to diagnose megaloblastic anemia; elevated levels of methylmalonic acid provide an early indication of cobalamin (B12) deficiency.</p>
<p>People with vitamin B-12 deficiency almost always have elevated levels of methylamalonic acid, however positive test does not confirm deficiency. Vitamin -B12 deficiency causes megaloblastic anaemia, oral ulcers and peripheral neuropathy.</p>
<p><strong>Recommended For:</strong><br>
Anaemic work-up, suspected vitamin B 12/folate deficiency.</p>
<p><strong>Special Notes:</strong><br>
No special preparation is necessary prior to blood sample collection.</p>
