Celiac Disease Profile Blood Test

<p><strong>Use:</strong><br> This test helps support a diagnosis of Celiac Disease, a food sensitivity (not an allergy) to gluten, found in wheat, barley, and rye. The only way to diagnose Celiac Disease is through a gastroenterologist, who will perform a biopsy of the small intestine.</p> <p>Most cases of gluten intolerance are undiagnosed. &nbsp;Strict avoidance of gluten in the diet will control disease activity, and antibodies to serum markers will disappear with time.</p> <p><strong>Recommended For:</strong><br> Diagnosing and monitoring celiac disease, strong family history of gluten sensitivity.</p> <p><strong>Special Notes:</strong><br> Patient needs to be eating gluten and cannot be on a gluten free diet as the results will be incorrect.</p> <p><strong>Tests Included:</strong><br> Celiac Disease Profile - TC - 19955<br> Tissue Transglutaminase, IgA with Reflexes<br> Total IgA with Reflex</p> <p><em>If the Tissue Transglutaminase IgA is positive, Endomysial Antibody Screen (IgA) will be performed (CPT code(s): 86255). If the Endomysial Antibody Screen (IgA) is positive, Endomysial Antibody Titer will be performed (CPT code(s): 86256).
