<p><strong>Use:</strong><br>
The Thyroid Profile with TSH includes 4 tests to evaluate thyroid function. Thyroid blood tests involve measuring the total level of thyroxine (T4) hormone in your body, the levels of hormones such as triiodothyronine (T3) and T4 in the bloodstream, as well as the level of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) produced by the pituitary gland.</p>
<p>When TSH levels are high, this indicates hypothyroidism, which is an underactive thyroid where individuals may experience weight gain, fatigue, numbness or cold intolerance.</p>
<p>When TSH levels are low, this indicates hyperthyroidism, which is an overactive thyroid where individuals may experience weight loss, vomiting, increased blood pressure, hair loss or increased heart rate.</p>
<p><strong>Recommended For:</strong><br>
Those who have a family history of thyroid problem; Those who experience symptoms such as sudden weight loss/gain, drop in energy, dry skin, constantly feeling cold or hot and increased heart rate; Monitoring treatment associated with thyroid disorders.</p>
<p><strong>Special Notes:</strong><br>
If you are currently taking a thyroid hormone, it is recommended you get your blood drawn prior to taking your daily dose. Otherwise, no special preparation is needed for thyroid bloodwork.</p>
